A Week of Middle School Ministry

Well a week ago today, the Chapel Choir left to on choir tour to London and Wales. Since I was able to go on the trip I have spent this week working with the middle school ministry. And you know I have really found that hanging out with a bunch of 7th and 8th graders is kind of fun.
The week started off with a pool party last Wednesday night at Birchtree Tennis Club. The party went great and the kids had a blast, I enjoyed getting to spend some time with the guys and really getting to know some of 7th grade guys better.
Monday started early this week at 5:45am for Atlanta Adventure which included Six Flags and the Braves vs. Red Sox game. The park was not too crowded and as always the people who love rides had a blast and the ones like me, who don’t ride, enjoyed spending some time in the park. The day finished up with the 1st of 3 games between the Braves and the Red Sox, the only on the Braves one. I enjoyed the day and getting to spend time with the kids and see a great Braves game.
Tonight finished up the week with eXtreme which was great as always. We had longer version tonight. We had fun game of dodge ball and a good discussion on the community of Christ. Jeremy taught out of Ephesians 4 and used some passages out of Joshua 1 and Psalms 27. After the lesion we had discussion groups with the kids about the church, I really enjoyed getting to hear some of there thoughts and ideas.
Well it has been a great week of ministry with middle school kids and as always when I spend some time serving with the youth I know that God’s call in my life is truly real. Well that’s it for now. I will try to have one up next week about the Home Concert for Chapel Choir and about day camp in few weeks.

Summer Time

Summer is a kind-of funny time of year for me, because it is a welcome break from the stress and crazy ways of life. As always this summer is full of a lot of time with nothing to do and times when I have so much going on that I can’t tell which way is up. After about of week of having nothing to do and not much going on I am at the point at which I am ready to climb the walls. I have been in Birmingham for 2 full months with out leaving and I am getting sick of it, my only escape being Jimmy Buffet, I am sick of this place and would give my kingdom for a short break from here. While all this down time is driving me nuts, I have found a good time to think and my head back into my dreams and out of school. Most people don’t know about my dreamer side but it exist and at this point in life it is going on full steam a head. Well that’s my rant for now, maybe latter this well or some time soon I will open up my box of dreams and share with the world.

I Wonder if They Knew Then It Would be What it is Today?

As the title says, I wonder if the knew then it would be what it is today. Today is April 9, 2007 and to most it is just another day that comes and goes without much to thought. But to a nerd like me it is special because 82 years ago today a group of believers came together to form a new church. This church would come to be called Dawson.
I wonder if on April 9, 1925 they would have thought that their little church would become a light in a dark world that shines to the ends of the earth. That God would move in way that would change the world by the actions of the ministers and members. That its name would be carried the ends of the world and that the lives of people in far off lands would be changed by what God does through it. That the name of God would be glorified by the lives that are and have been changed by the work of their little church.
I don’t know what Dawson means to others, but me to it means a place that has changed and changes my life almost every day. But I am very thankful for what God has done in the life of Dawson both for my spiritual life and of the lives of thousands of people over the years. So I finish this with one final thought, congratulations to my family on 82 great yeas and I look forward to many more to come with you.
